Introduction: Psychological flexibility is an essential component in the nursing profession. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare the effectiveness of mentalization-based therapy and dialectical behavior therapy on psychological flexibility of nurses experiencing mental fatigue.
Materials and Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test, a control group, and a follow-up design. a total of 44 nurses working at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Falavarjan were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and a control group. The research instrument was Psychological Flexibility Scale. The two experimental groups received treatment for eight sessions, and the control group did not receive any treatment. Data were analyzed through analysis of variance with repeated measures.Results: The results of this study indicated that the difference between mean scores of control group and the mentalization and dialectical behavior therapy groups was significant (p<0.05). however, it was indicated that the difference between mean scores of the two groups of mentalization therapy and dialectical behavior therapy was not significant (p>0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that both treatment methods are effective inincreasing psychological flexibility in nurses experiencing mental fatigue problems. In addition, there is no difference between the effectiveness of mentalization therapy and dialectical behavior therapy on psychological flexibility of these nurses. |
