Introduction: Stroke is a debilitating disease that affects the psychological, social, and physical dimensions of patients. The aim of the present study is to identify a quality of life model based on self-esteem and self-efficacy with a mediating role in social adaptation in stroke patients.
Materials and Methods: This study is descriptive-analytical. The statistical population includes stroke patients referred to the main neurology centers of Kerman, Fars, and Hormozgan provinces in the third quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. Sampling was conducted purposively. Data were collected using standard questionnaires for quality of life, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and social adaptation. Experts' opinions were used to assess face and content validity, and the reliability of the tools was confirmed by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient for all scales. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling.
Results: The results showed that the quality of life model based on self-efficacy and with the mediating role of social adaptation is significant at a confidence level of 99% (p<0.05), while the direct and indirect effects of self-esteem are not significant (p>0.05). Social adaptation and self-efficacy are two components that affect the quality of life of patients.
Conclusion: Paying attention to psychological and social variables such as self-efficacy and social adaptation in designing rehabilitation interventions for stroke patients is essential and can significantly improve their quality of life.
