Introduction: Parasitic diseases are among the most important problems of many countries in the world, especially developing ones. the first steps of controlling the epidemics are epidemiological studies of parasites and their prevalence, and there has been no such studies done in Sanandaj before, therefore these studies for this province will be necessary to determine the prevalence rate. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of intestinal parasites in 3000 patients Who have referred to Shahid Ghazi hospital of Sanandaj province during the year of 2014.

Methods: In this cross sectional study, fresh samples of 3000 patients with different age groups were studied for intestinal parasitic infection using the Direct expansion method on all samples. the data was analyzed using spss 18.

Results: 392(13.1%) of participants were infected with at least one type of intestinal parasites (pathogenic/non-pathogenic protozoa/helminthes). The most common intestinal protozoa were Entamoeba coli (6.7%), Giardia lamblia (3%), Blastocystis hominis (2%), Endolimax nana (1%), Iodamoeba bütschilii(0.3%), Entamoeba histolytica(0.06%), Fasciola hepatica egg(0.03%) and Ascaric egg(0.03%).

 Conclusion: The results of this study revealed a high prevalence of intestinal parasites in Sanandaj province and it seems that attempting for hygiene education is necessary.
