Introduction: Nursing is one of the most important and stressful jobs that causes a lot of serious physical and psychological consequences. Psychological well-being is one of the important indicators of an individual’s mental health status. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the relationship between psychological well-being and psychological hardiness among nurses, with the mediating role of self-efficacy in nurses, from Kermanshah city.
Materials and Methods: The present research employed a descriptive-analytical correlation design with path analysis. The statistical population of this research comprised all the nurses of Kermanshah city in 1402, of whom 278 were selected as a research sample, to collect data, Psychological Well-being Questionnaire, Mental Toughness Questionnaire and Self-Efficacy Scale were used. Version 3.3 of Smart PLS software was used to develop the confirmatory factor analysis model and structural equation modeling, and SPSS 25 version was used for descriptive statistics.Results: The results obtained from this study show that there is a positive and significant relationship between psychological toughness and psychological well-being (p<0.01). There is also a positive and significant relationship between well-being and psychological toughness through the mediating role of coping self-efficacy (p<0.01). The correlation coefficient between the variables is direct and statistically significant at 99% confidence level (p<0.01). Conclusion: According to the findings, it can be concluded that nurses with more or higher psychological hardiness have better psychological well-being. Moreover, higher self-efficacy, is associated with better psychological well-being among nurses, too. The results of this study emphasize the importance of the mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between well-being and psychological hardiness. |
