Introduction: The balance between physical activity, medication, and daily food intake helps to regulate blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of twelve weeks of combined exercise with Canagliflozin on the development of insulin resistance factors in type 2 diabetic men. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 44 men with type 2 diabetes (mean age 25-40 years) from Tehran city in 2019 were randomly divided into four groups (n=11) of control, drug, exercise and exercise-drug groups. Combined exercises were performed 3 sessions per week, 45 minutes for 12 weeks. Subjects were given 200 mg of canagliflozin for 12 weeks. Blood samples and anthropometric characteristics were obtained before and 24 hours after the intervention at 12-hour fasting. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA with repeated measures, t-test and Bonferroni post hoc test at P<0.05. Results: Results showed that 12-week training-canagliflozin administration significantly decreased leptin and IL-6 levels in type 2 diabetic men (p=0.001). Also, the levels of leptin (P=0.002), TNF- α (P=0.004) and IL-6 (P<0.001) were significantly lower than the pre-test. Conclusion: Regarding the benefits of canagliflozin as a supplement for diabetic patients, it can have a more effect on the improvement of diabetes and related diseases. |
