Introduction: Frequent exposure of nurses to painful and excruciating conditions of patients in different wards can lead to a decrease in the quality of their professional life, which can lead to psychological trauma, such as a decline in the quality of care and patient care outcomes. Considering the importance of action resilience and its role in adapting to difficult situations, the aim of this study was to predict the quality of nurses' work life in the workplace based on resilience and positive and negative affect.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this study included all the nurses in Bushehr city in 2017-2018. 100 nurses from 3 hospitals were selected from among them by random cluster sampling method. Then the data were collected via resilience scale, positive and negative affect scale and quality of work life scale. Data were analyzed using SPSS-21 software and person correlation coefficient and multiple regression method.
Results: Findings showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between resilience and positive affect variables with quality of work life and a negative and significant relationship between negative affect and quality of work life (p<0.001). The results of the regression analysis also showed that resilience and positive and negative affect variables plays a role in predicting 32% of variance of quality of work life variable (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that, in the nursing community, applying programs to increase the nurses resilience and their positive affect can increase their mental health and improve their quality of working life.
