Background and Objectives: Limited resources require the prioritization of resources to reach the acceptable level of health in all aspects of existing resources. The purpose of this study was to determine the research priorities of Jiroft University of Medical Sciences in 2017 based on the WHO COHRED model.
Materials and Methods: This study was a Health System Research (HSR) project with the participation of 14 faculty members and 21 managers, experts and healthcare staff in the southern region of Kerman province. The model was proposed by the Council for Health Research for Development (COHRED), based on this study, the beneficiaries were first identified and the status of the region of Jiroft University of Medical Sciences was analyzed, then the specific fields and titles were identified. And priority research were determined by criterion and scoring.
Results: Seven research areas related to health and medical education in the southern region of Kerman province include training and empowerment, laws and regulations and executive procedures, mental and social health, family health, non communicable diseases, communicable diseases and occupational and environmental hazards. In total, 351 areas and topics were identified as priorities of the Jiroft University of medical sciences.
Discussion and Conclusion: In this project, research priorities of Jiroft University of Medical Sciences were determined. It is hoped that the presentation of research priorities, in addition to directing the proposed topics to the priorities, will be of interest to policy makers, reviewers and promoters of research projects in order to serve as a tool for optimal use of limited financial resources.
